The Cabildo of Lanzarote unanimously approved last Monday the motion presented by Coalición Canaria demanding the repair of the charging points for electric vehicles in Lanzarote and La Graciosa managed by the Cabildo, as well as the expansion of the network of stations dependent on the first island institution.
“As of today, only one of the charging points works correctly, the rest are practically in disuse due to serious technical incidents that we hope will finally be resolved after the approval of our proposal”, indicated the deputy spokesperson for Coalición Canaria in the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés.
The nationalists affirm that, after the arrival of the current president to the institution, "the program for installing charging stations initiated by Coalición Canaria disappeared along with the projects for electrifying the institution's mobile fleet, ceasing to be a priority for the PSOE and the turncoat councilor Juan Manuel Sosa, as well as for their various government partners.”
“Unfortunately, they stopped the purchase of electric vehicles for the Cabildo's mobile fleet in favor of internal combustion vehicles, something that we consider completely unjustifiable and that has been rectified thanks to a proposal that we presented to the plenary session a few months ago”, San Ginés highlighted.
From CC they emphasize that the consequences of “bad practices in the planning of future mobility in environments as fragile as our islands, take decades to be resolved, but the errors that cause them are committed in short spaces of time, so it is crucial to detect them in time and correct them.”
“In these three years of legislature, the Cabildo has turned its back on sustainable mobility, so the approval of our initiative partially corrects the damage caused. On the other hand, we consider it very positive that our proposal was approved unanimously, since this means that all the parties in the chamber have publicly committed to the future expansion of the network of charging stations for electric vehicles in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, beyond the Tourist Centers. And that is excellent news”, concludes San Ginés.
