The auditor Carlos Sáenz has been presenting medical leaves weekly since the day he requested his reinstatement in the Arrecife City Council, after spending 10 months in pre-trial detention. Thus, so far he has not assumed his position, which continues accidentally in the hands of Cristina Fernández.

Sáenz left the Tahíche prison on March 26. A day later, he submitted his reinstatement request to the City Council and "immediately afterwards" a medical leave, which he has been renewing "weekly", according to sources from the Arrecife City Council.

When Sáenz requested his return to his position in Arrecife, the government group decided to send a query to the Public Service, which responded on April 11, authorizing his reinstatement to his position as auditor. However, Sáenz has still not returned to his position, since he is still on leave.

In addition, during the time he was in pre-trial detention, he also continued to receive "a minimum salary" from the City Council, as established by law, according to these same sources.

The auditor of Arrecife is charged in the "Montecarlo" case for alleged crimes of embezzlement of public funds, bribery, money laundering, prevarication and falsification of public documents, both for his management in the capital's Consistory and for his activity in the municipalities of San Bartolomé and La Oliva (Fuerteventura).
