The Arrecife City Council has launched the Motorcycle Unit of the Local Police, made up of six agents (one officer and five police officers) who, although they will exercise the powers of the Corps, will be mainly specialized in functions associated with Traffic.

In this way, the new Motorcycle Unit of the Local Police will be dedicated to the control and regulation of traffic, as well as to the immediate assistance and securing of the area and data collection and investigation in the event of traffic accidents, in coordination with the Accident Unit.

Among the tasks of these agents is also information on signage and road conditions and control and reporting on compliance with Municipal Ordinances.

Similarly, according to the City Council, they will provide service in the shifts and schedules in which a greater intensity of road traffic is expected, given that their main objectives fall within road safety and mobility of the capital municipality.

According to the Councilor for Traffic, Jacobo Lemes, with the launch of this Motorcycle Unit "a further step is taken both in the specialization process within the Local Police of Arrecife and in the search for greater efficiency in the provision of the service".
