The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, signed this Thursday the contract with the company Imesapi, belonging to the ACS group, which was awarded the tender for the modernization and maintenance of municipal public lighting. According to the Consistory, the company "will implement a new efficient management model", which "will mean a saving of 5 million euros for the municipality".
This was highlighted by Betancort, insisting that "only in public lighting, maintenance and the guarantee of the facilities, including the repair and replacement of deteriorated equipment", this contract "represents a saving of more than 25 percent compared to current consumption". In addition, we must add the "important improvements offered by the winning company of the tender, which will benefit the citizens of Teguise".
The contract signed with Imesapi will last for 12 years and the City Council will invest "more than eight million euros", as the Consistory explained at the time, after the award to this company.
For his part, the Councilor for Energy, José Domingo Morera, has also stressed that with this new management model, "Teguise will adapt to the law and will contribute to energy saving, while putting an end to the inconveniences generated by light pollution".
Savings, efficiency and innovation
"At this time, reducing spending on the municipality's energy bill is an essential issue and this model allows us to guarantee the quality of the current provision of this public service and even improve it, with investments in efficiency and innovation, save considerably and also improve our sustainability ratios", added the mayor.
On the other hand, Betancort explained that this new contract "means thinking more about citizens, as we improve the management of public resources, which belong to everyone, while we unload a considerable amount from the electricity bill, and these resources can be used for other purposes that are much more necessary today".
The process of implementing the new management model of Energy Services for the use and maintenance of public lighting that has been formalized this Thursday has had the necessary technical assistance for the development of the EOC Consultant tender.
