Teguise says there is already a project to pave from El Mojón to Guatiza and that "the PSOE knows it"

The Councilor for Roads and Works of the Teguise City Council, Eugenio Robayna, has stated that there is a Cabildo project with 900,000 euros to pave the road from El Mojón to Guatiza, which will also be included in the Lanzarote Cycle Path network. "The PSOE knows it," added the councilor, after the socialists denounced a few days ago the existing potholes on this road, urging the Consistory to repair it.

"The deputy spokesperson for the PSOE takes a photo when she is an advisor to the Cabildo and Marcos Bergaz is a councilor of the Cabildo and I have informed Marcos Bergaz of all this. Don't they talk to each other or don't they inform themselves? Marcos was aware of everything," the councilor assured.

Robayna has also stated that "every year" the City Council "patches up" that road. "But it is a road that the rally passes through and when it doesn't break on one side, it breaks on the other. The same thing every year, because it is an old road, with very weak material," he pointed out.

Therefore, as it is "very costly" for the City Council, the Councilor for Roads and Works has explained that it was proposed to the Cabildo to include this road in the Lanzarote Cycle Path. "We made a preliminary project, we took it to the Cabildo, and the Cabildo made a project that includes including that road to Los Valles. So, it will be a cycle path, but also for the use of the residents of the area and the farmers," he stated.

According to Robayna, the project has already been drafted by the Cabildo's Public Works Department and sent to the Canary Islands Government to obtain a subsidy. "And in the end we have obtained those 900,000 euros," the councilor pointed out, stating that the Cabildo "has already reserved" that money and that they are waiting for the works to be put out to tender, which is expected to happen "throughout this year." "Everything will be paved, the road will be new and the old material will be removed," he indicated.
