The Teguise City Council approved in the plenary session this Wednesday the increase in the number of taxi licenses in the municipality. This decision will allow the incorporation of six new vehicles, two of them adapted for people with reduced mobility, thus reaching a total of 45 vehicles dedicated to public transport for citizens.
The mayor, Olivia Duque, emphasizes "the need to continue working with professionals in the sector to reach agreements between both parties and that this public service meets the regulatory and comfortable conditions required by the population." "It is a great step, we work with data and trying to go hand in hand with the sector, collecting all aspects and realities of the municipality," she adds.
The Councilor for Transportation, Javier Díaz, points out that with this measure we seek to solve the inconveniences of finding taxis at specific and punctual times of the day. "We are aware of the demand that exists in Teguise and, therefore, we work tirelessly to find solutions that benefit both professionals and consumers," he says.
A recent socioeconomic study prepared by the City Council, in which four out of five inhabitants are "satisfied with the taxi service", determined that the creation of new licenses in the municipality was viable.
The Teguise City Council will continue to analyze the evolution of the sector, as well as the updating of rates and communication systems to request a taxi, with the aim of offering both residents and visitors "an optimal service that complies with traffic regulations."
