The Teguise City Council has implemented the fifth container in the towns of Tahíche, Costa and La Villa. This new measure, which will be installed in all the towns of the municipality, will allow citizens to separate and recycle organic waste, contributing to the reduction of waste and the use of bio-waste for the production of compost.
The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, stressed the importance of neighborhood collaboration in this new stage, which she considers as "a fundamental step towards a more sustainable Teguise." "With small individual actions, we achieve a great collective impact. I thank all the neighbors for their involvement in this initiative," she stressed.
For her part, the Councilor for Cleaning, Mar Boronat, pointed out that the success of the project "will depend on the commitment of the population and the shared effort to continue advancing in waste management." "From the City Council we point out the 10% bonus on the garbage tax for good practices through a responsible declaration, which can be requested through the electronic headquarters," she stressed.
Last week, the CEIP Tahíche hosted two training sessions in which students were able to learn firsthand the importance of waste separation and the positive impact of responsible management. In addition, these activities will continue to be developed in CEIP Costa Teguise and other schools to raise awareness among future generations. This measure has been developed for months, both in tourist complexes and in communities of neighbors.
The brown container is intended exclusively for organic waste, such as fruit, vegetable, meat and fish remains; egg and nut shells; coffee grounds and infusions; bread, cereal and cookie remains; napkins and dirty kitchen paper. On the other hand, plastics, packaging, glass or non-biodegradable products should not be deposited in this container.
The Teguise City Council encourages all citizens to participate in this campaign and to learn about the correct use of the fifth container.
