The workers of the company Volconsa, in charge of the conservation, maintenance, cleaning and concierge services of the socio-cultural centers and soccer fields of Arrecife, among other services, have threatened to call an indefinite strike if they do not receive the salaries corresponding to the past month of August.
In a statement sent by the workers themselves, they also assure that they have been suffering delays in the payment of their payrolls since last June.
"The company's response is that the City Council owes them more than 5 months and they cannot pay until the City Council does," say the workers, who point out, on the other hand, that the City Council tells them that "they are up to date with payments."
The workers ask the City Council to clarify this "lamentable situation", knowing also "that the contract with Volconsa ends on December 31, and as of today we do not know if the service will be put out to tender, if the contract will be renewed or if the services will be eliminated leaving about 20 families without employment."
