The San Bartolomé City Council has concluded the administrative procedure of asset investigation through which a rural road of traditional use has been formally recovered, which for decades was closed by an individual who prevented passage and claimed ownership, despite being a public section that did not appear in the municipal inventory or in the cadastre.

This was evident in the last plenary session, where it was approved to definitively conclude this asset investigation process.

This road, which had been historically used by residents and groups such as hunters, has been returned to the citizens after successfully completing a technical-legal process promoted by the council, within the framework of the file initially approved in plenary on November 27, 2024, under the Regulations of Assets of Local Entities.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, resolves that "it has been demonstrated that this road was open to public use since time immemorial, and although it did not officially appear as municipal property, it was part of the collective heritage. Today we can say that it is back where it should always have been: at the service of all residents."

For her part, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Marlene Marrero, stressed that "it is a priority for this governing group to protect what belongs to the municipality. The recovery of this road represents a firm step in the defense of the general interest and in the preservation of the public use of our rural environment, against individual interests."

With the completion of this process, the City Council will now proceed to its appraisal, inclusion in the Inventory of Assets, in the Cadastre and in the Land Registry, thus guaranteeing its legal protection and avoiding future improper appropriations. The council will continue working on the recovery and regularization of other rural roads in a similar situation, to ensure their conservation and enjoyment by the citizens.
