The population center of Playa Blanca will possibly have a Civil Guard service between the end of January and the beginning of February.
For this, the businessman Juan Francisco Rosa has ceded, through the Insular Association of Hotel and Apartment Businessmen in Lanzarote (Asolan), a building in which they can have their barracks.
"It is currently being conditioned and will function until a barracks is built for which the City Council is already taking steps," explained the island director Marcial Martín.
The premises have 184 square meters between Avenida de Canarias and Calle Correíllo. Thus, the headquarters will have several offices, a waiting room and a guardhouse. For its part, the head of the municipality will continue to provide its services. In fact, the 22 civil guards who currently work in Yaiza will be the ones who rotate their work in Playa Blanca "which at first I suppose will be in pairs but if more agents are needed they will come without any problem," explained Marcial Martín.
Objective
The installation of this service aims to respond to the security needs demanded by the citizens of Playa Blanca. In addition, for other procedures they will not have to travel the approximately 15 kilometers that separate it from Yaiza.
For his part, the director of Asolan, Francisco Armas, stressed that the association understands that they must provide the tourist municipality with the highest levels of quality.
"Related to quality is security and until now of the three tourist areas of Lanzarote the only one that did not have a permanent Civil Guard presence was Playa Blanca," said Francisco Armas. In this way, Asolan also defends the safety of both the tourists of the town and its inhabitants.
