The deputy of the Canarian Nationalist Group, Oswaldo Betancort, registered last Friday, December 3, before the Parliament of the Canary Islands, the question that he will ask orally in plenary session to the Minister of Health, “to find out what is the intention of the Government of the Canary Islands in the face of the lack of specialists in oncology on the island of Lanzarote”.
“Currently, the José Molina Orosa Hospital only has two oncology doctors practicing, which is clearly insufficient for the society of Lanzarote and Graciosa, which is urgently demanding the hiring of more professionals”, lamented the regional deputy.
Betancort recalls that “it is a priority to fill the lack of oncologists in the hospital, not only so that cancer patients can have their check-ups, but also to guarantee assistance and diagnosis to all the citizens of the island in such a sensitive issue”.
“Only two oncologists are not enough for the number of people who require treatments, check-ups and care, so we would like to know what the forecast of the Ministry of Health is”, Betancort reiterated, “despite the efforts that we know the health personnel are carrying out, with the overload that the lack of resources entails, even more so in a moment as delicate as the one we are suffering due to the pandemic.”
