The bidding for the works of the Areas of Regeneration and Urban Renovation of 40 homes in Valterra and Titerroy is "awaiting confirmation from 5 owners from the first of the neighborhoods and 11 from the second." This was stated by the capital's Councilor for Urban Planning, Samuel Martín, who hopes that these residents "will join as soon as possible those who have already shown their agreement so that the works can begin."
"In something as vital as the right to housing for these residents, we cannot be improvising. Things have to be done right. The process has been slow and many things have had to be corrected, but the important thing now is the progress we have made. And we are going to continue working along those lines," said the councilor, who has "apologized for the delay."
The City Council recalls that last April "the service contract was awarded, which had the purpose of hiring the information and management team and the consequent opening of the relevant information office." Of the last steps taken within a procedure that began in 2011, last July, the processing was carried out for the granting to the Arrecife City Council by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, of a subsidy of 91,870.68 euros for the ARU of both neighborhoods.
"We are doing everything in our power to ensure that the owners of the affected homes suffer the least possible damage," the councilor stressed. The City Council recalls that the program to promote urban regeneration and renovation "aims to finance the joint execution of rehabilitation works on buildings and homes, urbanization of public spaces and, where appropriate, construction to replace demolished buildings, within previously defined areas of action."
These works must be carried out in order to improve residential fabrics, and functionally recover historic complexes, urban centers, degraded neighborhoods and rural areas.
