Officers from the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías and the Headquarters of the Local Police of Tías gave this week eight informational sessions to the students of the Secondary Education Institute (IES) Puerto del Carmen on Road Safety in the use of Personal Mobility Vehicles, in its variant popularly known as electric scooters.
This training was carried out on March 18 and 19 at the request of the director of the educational center, Esther Curbelo, within the framework of the Director Plan for Coexistence and the Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environment, established by the Ministry of the Interior, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The didactic objectives are based on the technical characteristics of these vehicles, as well as the mandatory equipment for users and traffic regulations, emphasizing the safety of drivers and other vehicle users.
The informational sessions were carried out after the verification, from the direction of the IES, of the inadequate circulation by many users of these electric scooters, especially at the exit of school hours, even with risk of accident.
Through these exhibitions, students have been provided with information and practical application that allows them to circulate in these vehicles safely, adapting to traffic regulations, which increases road safety in the environment of the educational center.
