Masdache went on a pilgrimage in honor of the Virgen de la Magdalena

Masdache celebrated its pilgrimage on Saturday in honor of the Virgen de la Madgalena. Hundreds of people walked along the La Geria road, in this event framed in the festivities of this town in the municipality of Tías.

The City Council has recalled that Masdache is located next to one of the old royal roads of Lanzarote, which connected the two historical centers of the island, that is, El Rubicón (next to the beaches of Papagayo) and Teguise, the old capital. The procession started at 6:00 p.m. and the party lasted until night with the performance of the El Geito band.

The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, accompanied by councilors of the Municipal Corporation, was present throughout the pilgrimage. The Councilor for Festivities of the Tías City Council, Francisco Javier Aparicio Betancort, highlighted that it was "the most participatory and numerous in recent years."

Among the attendees were the Corujo Perdomo band, a family with a great folkloric tradition and linked to the town of Masdache. Thus, the young and well-known Lanzarote tenor Pancho Corujo was present, who triumphs in the great opera coliseums in Europe.

The carts that participated in the pilgrimage received a sack of corn as a gift. The attendees enjoyed, at the end and under the tent, the desserts that each family brought to share on this festive afternoon.

Water Festival and workshops

On Sunday at 1:00 p.m. the water festival took place and in the afternoon, at 6:00 p.m., the children were the protagonists with a children's party and the show "Tale of a magical world". This Monday, the neighbors have been able to enjoy a ceramics workshop where they have revived the customs of yesteryear.

This Saturday, a walk will be organized with the collaboration of the Lanzarote Hiking guides. A path will be made along the route of the towns buried in the volcanic eruptions of the 18th century and where one of the best wine valleys of Lanzarote is currently located, in the vicinity of the town of La Geria (Yaiza).

The central festival of La Magdalena will be next Monday, July 22, with the religious function and at the end folkloric performances. The festivities will conclude with a gala night.
