The La Geria winery hosted this Wednesday the press conference to present the Sonidos Líquidos 2026 festival, which will be held next Saturday, June 6 in this unique volcanic environment, which year after year becomes the true headliner of the event.

The event was attended by Oswaldo Betancort, president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote; Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza; Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, director general of Tourism Planning, Training and Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands; Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Vinos de Lanzarote; and Neftalí Acosta, director of Arenao Producciones and organizer of the festival.

During the presentation, the role of Sonidos Líquidos as one of the most consolidated cultural events on the island's calendar was highlighted, with all tickets for La Geria sold out, reflecting the growing interest it arouses among both local and visiting audiences; in fact, more than 70% come from outside the island.

After the success of the Belingueos, which have once again sold out at each of their spring events, the festival faces the final stretch of the current edition. And it does so, once again, "committed to sustainability and the SDGs, positioning itself as one of the most responsible music events in Europe, thanks to the implementation of innovative measures that reduce its environmental impact and strengthen its link with the territory".

In this regard and with the aim of protecting a territory as fragile as La Geria, the organization insisted on the importance of attending by bus, tickets for which can be purchased on the website, and recalled the road closure that will take place from the LZ-30 junction with LZ-501 (La Asomada, Conil, Tías) to the LZ-30 junction with Uga (Calle El Morro).

The big novelty: jump to La Graciosa

Among the main novelties of this edition is the extension of the festival until June 28, with a special event in La Graciosa. This action, which will be developed in collaboration with the Líneas Romero Foundation and the UNESCO World Geopark of Lanzarote and Chinijo Archipelago, will coincide with European Geoparks Week and will incorporate educational content about the territory.

It will do so on a special catamaran trip where there will be surprises and it will end with a performance in Caleta del Sebo by Los Blody - the winning band at the Sonora festival, recently held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria-.

A festival that dialogues with the island's culture

As in previous editions, in the days prior to the main event, Sonidos Líquidos will once again deploy a cultural program in different spaces of the island. On Thursday, June 4, the Sala Buñuel of CIC El Almacén, will host the screening of Taxi Driver with live soundtrack by Zabala, in a perfect pairing with the Lanzarote International Film Festival. On Friday, June 5, the day will continue with the delivery of festival wristbands accompanied by a DJ set, in addition to the concert by Ángela González, also in the Sala Buñuel.

Already on June 6, the public will be able to get carried away by the live performances of Ginebras, The Molotovs, Sanguijuelas del Guadiana, Ángel Stanich, Nortec: Bostich + Fussible —which also celebrates its 25th anniversary—, Go Cactus, La 126 and the Gran Canarian DJ Dara Ortega. Joining them is also the emerging band Good Franco, also winner of the Sonora festival.

An event of international projection

Neftalí Acosta, director of the festival, stressed that “Sonidos Líquidos is born precisely from the search for a balance between respect for the territory and the development of a quality cultural offer. We are committed to valuing our landscape, our wines and our local product, from a sustainable and environmentally respectful approach. At the same time, we work to attract a visitor with a medium-high profile, who understands and appreciates the uniqueness of Lanzarote and contributes to a more conscious and balanced development model”. “The results of each edition demonstrate the achievement of these objectives,” he concluded.

In the words of Oswaldo Betancort, “Sonidos Líquidos perfectly represents the event model we want for Lanzarote: a quality cultural proposal, linked to the landscape, local product and respect for our territory. This festival has managed to project the image of the island beyond our borders, also generating significant economic and tourist returns. That more than 70% of the public comes from outside demonstrates Lanzarote's ability to attract visitors through culture and authentic experiences”.

For the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, “the binomial of the La Geria and Sonidos Líquidos brands is an engine not only in the cultural and promotional aspects but also, economically, it helps the municipality and the island”. “Promoting viable and sustainable events is no longer a matter of image, but a responsibility of the public manager, who must guarantee the return on investment. In this regard, Sonidos Líquidos is a clear example of how to do it well,” he added.

For his part, Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Vinos de Lanzarote, insisted that “we have supported Sonidos Líquidos from its beginnings because we firmly believe in the creation of synergies between music and wine. This union not only contributes to the positioning of our product, but also to that of Lanzarote as a destination. Through this festival, we bring our landscape and our identity closer to all the people who visit us”.

The Director General of Tourism Planning, Training and Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, highlighted the firm support of Turismo de Canarias for the Sonidos Líquidos festival, “an event that has managed to exemplary unite music, enogastronomy, landscape and the identity of Lanzarote, becoming a benchmark cultural event”. Rodríguez also underlined the significant impact generated by this event, which last year reached an economic impact of three million euros. “Results like this confirm the suitability of the Ministry's sponsorship strategy, which has managed to consolidate a first-class cultural agenda that benefits both the tourism sector and the Canary Islands citizenry,” assured the Director General, who recalled that since 2021 Turismo de Canarias has allocated nearly 19.7 million euros to sponsor 253 music festivals held on all the islands.

With this approach, Sonidos Líquidos reaffirms its identity as an event that transcends the musical, integrating into the landscape, culture, and external projection of Lanzarote, and consolidating its model of a sustainable, experiential festival connected to its environment.

Sonidos Líquidos is organized by Arenao Producciones with the sponsorship of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Turismo de Islas Canarias, SPEL -Turismo Lanzarote under its product brand Lanzarote Music Festivals, Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo, Ayuntamiento de Yaiza, Consejo Regulador de la D.O. Vinos de Lanzarote and Lava Live Fest. Collaborators: Grupo Chacón, Relaxia Resorts, Sonora, Lumar Mantenimiento and Tickety. Financed by the European Union - NextGenerationEU.
