The Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Security and Emergency Consortium will maintain the PEIN (Island Emergency Plan of Lanzarote) due to the high temperatures that keeps the island on yellow alert, so all outdoor activities will be suspended between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. This Tuesday, there are already some points in Lanzarote that have registered temperatures of 34 degrees mid-morning.

On the other hand, the Emergency Consortium has assisted seven people during the heat wave between August 5 and 11 in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, which represents 16.6% of the assistance in all of the Canary Islands. In the rest of the archipelago, in the same period, 42 people have been assisted.

This Monday, the Aemet initially announced the yellow alert for the island, but finally reactivated the orange alert due to the values that were being recorded of 39 degrees in Haría or 38 in Órzola.

In the coming days the heat wave will begin to subside very slowly and the trade winds will be established, but in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, it will not be definitively established until August 22. In this sense, it will blow moderately to strongly from the north and northwest component.

Until then we will have maximum temperatures above 30 degrees and minimums of more than 20 in the coming days. In addition, next Saturday and Wednesday there will be a rebound in high temperatures, although we will have to wait to know exactly the prediction of the State Meteorological Agency.
