Isidro Pérez has taken office as mayor of San Bartolomé in an act in which the memory of his predecessor, Alexis Tejera, who died on November 15 after announcing a month earlier that he suffered from ALS, was unanimous.
The first deputy mayor, Antonio Rocío, indicated that with the celebration of this plenary session, the aim is to normalize, as far as possible, the functioning of the San Bartolomé City Council.
He recalled that it was Alexis Tejera's wish that the management "not be stopped" and that the pace be recovered "as soon as possible". "The work ahead of us will not be easy, but we will face it with the commitment and courage that has brought us here and we will do it for the municipality of San Bartolomé, for the people of Lanzarote and because it is what Alexis wanted," he added.

For his part, Isidro Pérez reiterated his affection and admiration for his predecessor, who "leaves the bar of municipal management so high". "For him and for San Bartolomé, for the honor that this position entails and for my firm commitment to this municipality, I guarantee that I will work with full awareness of the enormous responsibility it represents," he said.
Antonio Ruíz Gutiérrez, representing Lanzarote En Pie-Sí Podemos-Equo, took the floor to congratulate the new mayor and offered his hand to help make possible a San Bartolomé in which the neighborhood is the epicenter of management and its well-being the bastion.
Sergio Tejera de León, representing the Popular Party, wished the government team luck in this endeavor, recalling the mark left by Alexis Tejera, showing support, hoping for communication and dialogue, and concluding by congratulating Isidro Pérez, reminding him of the great responsibility that the Mayoralty entails, the support he always had from his predecessor to hold this important position from capacity and courage.
The spokesman for CC, David Rocío, pledged again to the citizens to maintain the same enthusiasm, presenting proposals, offering alternatives, scrutinizing and supporting what they see as favorable for the municipality. He ended his speech by congratulating the mayor, wishing him success in the task he is beginning.
The spokesperson for the PSOE, Alma María González, highlighting that Alexis Tejera's guidelines will continue to be followed, from today: "The hallmark in management, with which San Bartolomé has become recognizable, will continue to be a sign of the project shared by this team that is just as or more willing and enthusiastic than ever."
Francisco Miguel Moral Fernández, representing Ciudadanos-Partido De La Ciudadanía (Cs), congratulated the government team, the mayor, Isidro Pérez, and showed his support by offering his hand and firm collaboration from understanding to benefit the entire neighborhood.
