The Iberia Strike Committee reported to the Civil Guard station at the airport that the company brought fifteen German employees over the weekend to meet the needs of ground handling services at the island's aerodrome.

These foreign workers, according to the strikers, do not have a work permit to work in Spain.

The Committee hopes that the Prosecutor's Office will investigate the complaint and that the relevant sanctions will be applied implacably. "The Civil Guard did not intervene and we hope that the Prosecutor's Office will take action," said León Fajardo, spokesperson for the Committee.

Staff from other centers

In addition, Iberia used five more workers from Alicante and staff from Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria. According to the strikers' estimate, more than forty workers reinforced the activities at the Lanzarote work center.

Despite this, a plane bound for Helsinki had to depart from Fuerteventura, with the conceived transfer of passengers by ferry to the island of Majorera. Likewise, the tourists who came from Helsinki had to come to their final destination, Lanzarote, suffering more than one inconvenience.

"Once again Iberia demonstrated that with the staff it has in Lanzarote it cannot respond to the companies to which it provides handling services," said Fajardo.

"Mafioso"

The workers' spokesperson called the airport director "mafioso" for allowing Iberia all kinds of abuses. León Fajardo demands the immediate intervention of public administrations. The strikers have suspended the strike days.
