The Federation of Health Technicians and Professionals denounces that for three weeks one of the 12-hour basic life support units in Arrecife (Lanzarote) is inoperative.
In a statement, this organization warns that the situation implies "an increase in services for the rest of the units and, therefore, in the workload".
"To this fact is added the non-existence of a collective agreement because the employers' association refuses to sign the agreements proposed by the trade union organizations," it adds.
According to the press release, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and the Management of Health and Safety Services in the Canary Islands (GSC) "are aware of the situation, but neither has taken the necessary measures to end it".
This organization notes a shortage of staff and insufficient resources, "which inevitably has consequences for the care of the population".
"The situation of the BLS ambulances is not as good as we would like, which is why we have denounced the problems surrounding this service in Lanzarote on several occasions," it points out.
"From FTPS we demand a real commitment to the care of the population and this must involve improving resources, respecting professionals and taking care of the services," it insists.
