The Haría City Council received this Thursday, February 20, in the Plenary Hall, a recognition for the Best Traditional Christmas Nativity Scene in the Lanzarote Island Contest of Christmas Urban Activities 2024-2025 (CILDUN). These awards highlight the work and dedication of the municipalities of the Island during the Christmas holidays.
In addition, the municipality was in second place in the categories of Best Christmas Event in Lanzarote, with the MalabHaría International Circus Festival, and the Best Unit Christmas Decoration, in relation to the Christmas rosette tree, an initiative developed by the students of the Traditional Crafts course.
The recognition ceremony was attended by the mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba; the Councilor for Culture, Evelia García, and the Councilor for Crafts, Nuria Acuña.
Mayor Alfredo Villalba emphasized the need to recognize and appreciate the "arduous" effort of the institutions during this festive period. "I am proud that our municipality can be distinguished with the award for best traditional nativity scene in a time where the protagonists are magic and illusion," he stressed.
"From the Culture Area we will continue working to offer, both to residents and visitors of Haría, different actions and events that help us position ourselves as an island reference," highlighted the first deputy mayor and councilor Evelia García.
For her part, the Councilor for Crafts, Nuria Acuña, highlighted that "these awards are a reflection of the value of the municipality's traditions and, above all, a recognition of the artistic talent of Haría."
The Lanzarote Island Contest of Christmas Urban Activities 2024-2025 was created in 2009 to reward the different municipalities during this festive period. The Haría City Council "reinforces its commitment to continue advancing and promoting activities that enrich the cultural heritage and talent that exists in the northern town," they conclude from the Consistory.
