The Haría City Council has reached an agreement with the Ministry of the Interior to change the location of the new SIVE to be installed in Guinate, as confirmed by the councilor of the northern municipality, Víctor Robayna.
As explained by the councilor on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, the central government's proposal was to place the SIVE in the Guinate Viewpoint itself, something that the City Council considered "unfavorable."
"They placed it in the middle of the Viewpoint. And it wasn't so much the building itself, but it had a security fence. We understood that this was somehow eating up the viewpoint, losing a space that was symbolic for us and a reference," he pointed out.
However, after a meeting last week with representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, including a "high command" of the Civil Guard, the councilor stated that "they have already understood that this space, so symbolic for us and of so much interest, can coexist with the SIVE."
Thus, the councilor explains that an agreement has been reached to "roll" the SIVE so that it is "camouflaged and mimicked with the communications tower that already exists" in the area. "I think it's good news," said Víctor Robayna, who highlighted the importance of the SIVE being installed to avoid "misfortunes" like the one that occurred in Órzola last year and at the same time "to be able to continue enjoying a viewpoint like the one in Guinate."
