Mark Weston, a British tourist, traveled with his wife Rachel Weston to Lanzarote at the beginning of last October. During their vacation on the island, Rachel suddenly passed away at the age of 42 while they were staying in Puerto del Carmen with some friends, as reported by the outlet Bury Times.
Rachel began to feel unwell during the holidays, but she thought it was a simple cold, so she decided to go to a pharmacy. After that, she felt better, but shortly after she fell ill again.
Given this situation, the couple decided to buy return flights to the United Kingdom on October 3, but they did not make it onto that plane.
Rachel suddenly collapsed in her hotel room and, despite the lifeguards' attempts to help her before the emergency services arrived, they could do nothing to save her life. The British woman suffered a fatal cardiac arrest.
The couple had travel medical insurance, which, according to this outlet, "helped cover the financial costs and ensured that Rachel could return home to her family."
However, her husband decided to launch a fundraising campaign to be able to say goodbye to Rachel as she deserved after spending eleven years together.
