The former Minister of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, Miguel Sebastián, has stated in Lanzarote that if "we have to bet on an Industry" that is "the tourism industry." Within the framework of the first Economic Thought Forum, which is being held this Friday in Costa Teguise, the former minister has stated that "there is no doubt about the positive prospects for tourism globally."

Miguel Sebastián participated in the first round table of this economic thought forum, in which he was accompanied by the speakers Manuel Balmaseda, chief economist of Cemex and member of the Shadow Council of the European Central Bank, and the professor of Applied Economics, Paloma Taltavull. The table was moderated by the Lanzarote journalist from Radio Lanzarote, Techy Acosta.

Miguel Sebastián also spoke about the importance of "training and cultural habits" to properly serve visitors. But, in addition, he discussed the real estate sector in Spain and the "rigidity of housing prices, promoted by the banking sector", which is "slowing down the exit from the crisis."

In this regard, Manuel Balmaseda also pointed out that the construction of houses "may have bottomed out", "but not public works." Balmaseda believes that in the Spanish real estate sector "unfortunately" there are still "adjustments to be made."

For her part, Paloma Taltavull has spoken about foreign residents and the "opportunity for the future for the real estate sector", although she has warned that "without credit there can be no real estate recovery."
