David Rodríguez assures that it was Cs who asked him not to communicate that there was a new leadership in Lanzarote

He has denied that before his resignation he had been removed as secretary of communication in the Canary Islands, but he has acknowledged that he was no longer island coordinator for months, despite the fact that he continued to appear in press releases.

David Rodríguez has denied that he did not hold any organic positions when he announced that he was leaving Ciudadanos more than 10 days ago. And it is that, he has affirmed that "it is a lie" that he had been removed as secretary of communication in the Canary Islands as stated by the party's councilor in Yaiza, Bruno Medina. Furthermore, although he has acknowledged that he was no longer the party's coordinator in Lanzarote, he has stated that it was the party who did not allow him to notify it. He even maintains that he continued to appear in press releases because he had been "demanded" to do so.

"I don't think it's fair that a councilor, a public official, dedicates himself to telling lies, because it has to be said with all the letters. He simply and plainly ignores the reality or, what would be worse, that knowing that what he is saying is a lie, he continues to say it," Rodríguez pointed out on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, where he pointed out that he has conveyed this "by telephone" to Medina himself. And it is that, he has insisted that when he left Cs, he did so "with the position of secretary of communication."

"It is the position that I am leaving. Nobody has removed me from any position here," David Rodríguez assured, after the Ciudadanos councilor in Yaiza assured that Rodríguez had had to "take a step aside" leaving his position on the autonomous committee. As for the position of island coordinator, according to Bruno Medina he also left it "many months" ago because "he was not re-elected." "The point is that one cannot be re-elected when they don't let you run," Rodríguez responded.

In this regard, he has denounced the "interference" by the coordinator of Ciudadanos in the Canary Islands, Enrique Arriaga, in the appointment of the new organic positions in Lanzarote. "What Mr. Enrique Arriaga did was place a list in his image and likeness, something with which I did not put any problems, because I do not want to have problems with Ciudadanos because I am very grateful to this party," he indicated.

Furthermore, after that he affirms that he proposed to Cs that they send "a press release" to say "who are the new positions here in Lanzarote." "And I was told no, that I was doing it quite well and that I should continue. And if you look back, you will see that David Rodríguez appears in all the notes," he assured, insisting that if he did so it was because the party had asked him to. "I have always done what Ciudadanos has demanded of me," he added.

"And when I submit my resignation, I leave being Secretary of Communication of Ciudadanos at a regional level," Rodríguez reiterated. In fact, the party announced this Tuesday that it had just appointed Igor Suárez as the new delegate secretary of Communication in the Canary Islands.

Thus, David Rodríguez has attacked the Ciudadanos councilor in Yaiza, Bruno Medina, for saying "things that make no sense" and that he has described as "Dantesque." "What I ask of a public official is that, if he does not know what he is being asked, he should shut his mouth and not answer, because when you are caught in a lie, what may be happening today can happen, that the affected person comes out in a media outlet and washes his face," he pointed out.

"What I ask of that councilor is that he be delicate, that he remember that he is a public official, that he should not be telling lies or half-truths, and that he really worry about what he has to worry about, which is his municipality and above all Ciudadanos insular. That is, that he is really integrated into Ciudadanos and worries about the citizens of Lanzarote and his municipality of Yaiza," concluded the former coordinator of the formation in Lanzarote.
