Costa Teguise needs to reactivate its tourism. For this reason, it is preparing an action plan that will be developed in the long term. The project will include numerous lines of action aimed at repositioning this area in the tourist area of the Island.
The plan will be the result of the Tourism Dynamization Seminar that will take place from today until next Thursday at the Hotel Beatriz.
About 25 people related to the Teguise City Council, the César Manrique Foundation, businessmen from the hotel and non-hotel sector, leisure agents and tourism associations are participating in these working days.
"The ultimate goal is for this seminar to continue over time so that there is follow-up," explained Sergio Moreno, from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and one of the coordinators of this seminar.
Development
These days will consist of working tables with public and private participation. Thus, they will make a diagnosis of the current situation. Next, they will develop the improvement strategy with which they hope to incorporate new members over time. In addition, there will be exhibitions and group dynamics.
The realization of this seminar started from a group of businessmen in the area. Thus, when they verified that tourism in the area was decreasing compared to the other two tourist spots in Lanzarote (Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca), they contacted Sergio Moreno and Héctor Fernández, the other coordinator of the conference and professor at the School of Hospitality. Both professionals, with the support of the Council, launched the project.
Currently, the main problem affecting Costa Teguise as a tourist destination is that it is perceived as undifferentiated, that is, it does not offer anything unique compared to other places. In addition, it has a worse climate and beaches with deficiencies.
