The former councilor of Coalición Canaria (CC) in Haría, Chaxiraxi Niz, has reported that she will be the president of the new political party, Compromiso por Haría, which aims to "work tirelessly to place the municipality where it should be".
Niz has advanced in an interview on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero that, along with her, her two colleagues who also moved to the group of non-attached members, Armando Bonilla and Alejandro Hernández, will be members of the party along with other people. For his part, Ambrosio Viñoly will be vice president, Elisabeth Cedrés the secretary and Paula Lemes the treasurer.
Although she has stated that her main objective is to govern with a majority and that she has not yet considered agreements, she has acknowledged that with Plataforma del Municipio de Haría (PMH) "there will never be an agreement", because it represents "an outdated policy".
Returning the commitment "that has been lacking in recent years"
Compromiso por Haría has a green "hope" logo, which represents a palm tree, "a sign of identity of the town" and hands shaking, "which shows the commitment we have with the municipality and that has been lacking in recent years".
Niz has also commented that in its ranks, in addition to her aforementioned colleagues, "anyone who wants to join is welcome": "We do not veto anyone, the more people and the more different profiles, the better."
In that sense, she has indicated that they have "people from CC and also from other formations" who have wanted to join the project. Regarding the possible union of her colleague Soraya Brito, -who also decided to move to the group of non-attached members-, she indicates that they have not held conversations.
Currently, the members of the formation are awaiting the final confirmation of the documentation -sent at the end of December 2022- by the registry.
"PMH does not adapt to Haría"
Looking ahead to the next elections in May, the president says that she feels "positive energy" and that she has received a good response from the people, who "needed another alternative".
Although the party's objective is to reach a majority, in the event of having to reach agreements, the formation is still not clear with whom yes -they do not close the door to CC-, but yes with whom not: "With PMH there will be no agreement because it represents an out-of-place policy, which does not adapt to Haría. The current mayor boasts of governing in a majority, but she should not boast of a government that is developed in an undemocratic framework", said Niz.
