The president of Compromiso por Haría (CxH), Chaxiraxi Niz, wanted to "thank all the residents of Haría for the vote of confidence they gave us".

The new political formation presided over by the former councilor of Coalición Canaria and former mayor of the municipality obtained four councilors in the elections of May 28 and became the second most voted list, with 707 votes, one below the Socialist Party.

Tied in number of councilors, the socialists and the new party could add enough support to create an absolute majority that allows them to govern in the municipality. Also, the PSOE or Compromiso por Haría could govern in coalition with the still acting mayor Evelia García of the Municipal Platform of Haría (PMH).

"The municipality of Haría has made a firm commitment to a change of policy," Niz said to Radio Lanzarote's microphones. "We are characterized by talking to everyone, we have talked to all the formations that have wanted to talk to us," he added.

"We are going to look for the best option for the people of Haría and I speak on behalf of Compromiso. We are going to look for what we consider is the best for Haría. We are going to make Haría move forward and we will do it with a solid government group," he continued.

For the moment, she has not clarified with whom she will form that municipal government.
