The Nationalist Group (CC-PNC) will submit to the vote of the plenary session of next October 28 a proposal for the current government group resulting from the pact between the PSOE, Unidas Podemos and Juan Manuel Sosa, to enable the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa to launch an aid package aimed at SMEs and the self-employed, for the acquisition of electric vehicles, as well as for the installation of charging stations.
As explained by Councilor Oscar Pérez Cabrera, “our proposal focuses on self-employed workers and small and medium-sized companies, since although the sector is aware of the environmental and economic benefits of no longer traveling with polluting vehicles, they do not have sufficient resources to switch to sustainable mobility in the short and medium term.”
If approved, the measure would ensure that "already in 2023 the first island institution publishes the first subsidies of this type, which are intended to be an addition to those that have been launched by other administrations," say from the Nationalist Group.
“We aspire for these aids to be compatible with those that can be offered by the State, the Autonomous Community or even the town halls, so that it is more attractive for professionals to switch to using zero-emission vehicles,” says Pérez Cabrera.
Pérez Cabrera hopes for a positive acceptance of the nationalist proposal and adds his "personal perception" on the establishment of sustainable mobility on the island: “I have said it many times and I never tire of repeating it, Lanzarote meets the ideal conditions for a rapid implementation of the electric vehicle, but we will only achieve it if public administrations are capable of making a real commitment to the decarbonization of our journeys beyond electoral photos. Less photos and more charging stations.”
