Coalición Canaria Lanzarote expresses its surprise and disappointment at the statement issued by the PSOE this Saturday, in which they reproach an alleged lack of foresight by the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Government of the Canary Islands in the management of the intense rains that affected the island yesterday.
While the emergency, cleaning and volunteer teams were in the streets working tirelessly to mitigate the effects of the rainfall, the PSOE chose to issue press releases from the comfort of their offices. “We believe that in times of crisis, the priority should be collaboration and support for those on the front line, not partisan criticism,” says the nationalist party.
It is important to remember that the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), responsible for issuing weather alerts, is attached to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, which depends on the central government, currently led by the PSOE.
From the Cabildo of Lanzarote, emergency protocols were activated according to the information provided by AEMET and the necessary resources were deployed to attend to the more than 220 incidents registered, especially in the municipalities of Teguise and Arrecife
“We regret that the PSOE prefers to use this situation to attack politically instead of joining the joint efforts to overcome adversity,” CC Lanzarote emphasizes, and urges all political forces “to put aside differences and work together for the well-being of the citizens of Lanzarote.”
Likewise, the nationalists assure that throughout today and for as long as necessary, they will continue to work in a coordinated manner with all institutions and organizations to guarantee the safety of the island's population.
