The political clash between Coalición Canaria and PSOE continues over the controversial lawsuit of the Janubio desalination plant. In response to the press release sent to the media by the Socialist Party in which it is stated that "Mario Pérez asked UTE Edam Janubio to present the desalination plant lawsuit before the Court of Arbitration", Coalición Canaria points out that this note can only be described as a smokescreen that seeks to hide and divert attention "on the embarrassments of some leaders and candidates of the Socialist Party, such as the wiretaps of Carlos Espino and the chaotic situation, on the verge of technical bankruptcy, in which Inalsa was left after the presidency of Enrique Pérez Parrilla".
In addition, the nationalists point out that on the dates when the desalination plant contract was signed, the president of Inalsa was Enrique Pérez Parrilla "and it should be remembered that the PSOE and its legal services defended the validity of the contract that led to Inalsa being condemned to pay 10 million euros". However, CC recalls, the Canary Islands Advisory Council sided with the current managers and considered that "the contract, as awarded, was contrary to the public interest, the principle of equality and the principle of non-discrimination".
"It is evident, in this sense, that the UTE is trying to blame those who have prevented them from obtaining compensation of 10 million for works not carried out. What is unacceptable is that the PSOE, despite the provisions of the Canary Islands Advisory Council, is positioning itself alongside the UTE, giving it the reason and harming the interests of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Island Water Consortium", Coalición Canaria points out.
Conspiracy theory
The document sent by the Socialist Party argued "that it is no longer necessary to accumulate more evidence to demonstrate that behind the Inalsa award there is only the hand of Mario Pérez and Coalición Canaria". "The investigation is demonstrating how the conspiracy theory that Mario Pérez himself and CC had hatched to try to discredit the PSOE and an upright person like Pérez Parrilla is collapsing like a house of cards", the PSC assures.
The Lanzarote PSC denounces in the document that "the Cabildo has not summoned the press precisely to the session of the investigation commission in which the former socialist president and the representative of UTE Edam Janubio appeared". "A transcendental appearance, as a result of the statements he made", the socialists assure. The PSC affirms that "it is the commission itself, chaired by Ángeles García (CC), that establishes the schedule of appearances and is responsible for communicating it to the media".
According to the socialists, Mario Pérez has used "a trick worthy of a con man to avoid appearing in said investigation commission". "While Pérez Parrilla has appeared as former president of the Cabildo and has decided to collaborate with the investigation commission, Mario Pérez, claiming that he can testify as president of the board of directors of Inalsa, has avoided appearing, deliberately delaying his appearance". For the Socialist Party, and as a result of the seriousness of what was heard in the commission, "Mario Pérez is trying to avoid having to testify before the elections at all costs", the socialists say.
Finally, the PSOE assures that the most serious thing is what the representative of UTE Edam Janubio, Enrique Hernández, stated this Thursday in the investigation commission. The socialists affirm that according to Hernández's statement, "it was Mario Pérez himself who suggested, in one of his meetings with the UTE, that it present the desalination plant lawsuit before the Court of Arbitration of the Chamber of Commerce of Las Palmas". According to the representative of Edam Janubio, "Mario Pérez argued that in this way he would have an excuse to convince the board of directors of Inalsa to reach an agreement to cancel the contract".
