The Standing Committee of the Canarian Coalition (CC) and the regional Executive of the Canarian Socialist Party (PSC-PSOE) decided this Monday to begin to travel a path that will lead them to re-edit their pact in the Government of the Canary Islands for the next four years. The fragile political map drawn by Sunday's elections in several leading institutions, such as the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, prevents exploring the terrain of cascade pacts in a broad sense, but both formations are willing to collaborate where they need each other. Initially, Nueva Canarias (NC) is not invited to the regional Executive.

The starting point of mutual understanding guarantees the nationalists to remain at the head of the councils of Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. It is true that in the case of the last of the three island institutions, its president, who was re-elected for such purpose the day before yesterday, Pedro San Ginés, preferred to start four years ago with the company of the Popular Party (PP). However, that agreement was not lasting and CC had to rely on the PSC, although neither on that occasion did the honeymoon last until the end of the term. Starting the road again hand in hand with the popular ones is unthinkable after the serious disagreement between both formations on account of the oil explorations of Repsol.
