The councilor of the Canarian Coalition in the Tías City Council, Pedro Calero, assures that the mismanagement has led the Tías City Council practically to ruin. "The policy of uncontrolled expenses to which this institution has been subjected in recent years means that debts that were not previously accounted for are emerging", says Calero, who also lashes out at the mayor of the town: "At this time, the mayor of Tías intends an extrajudicial recognition of credit for an amount of more than three million euros, to face invoices not conformed by technicians of the area or by authorized personnel. In addition, in others the concept is not clearly specified, according to the devastating report of the comptroller".
According to the nationalist councilor, the accounts of the Consistory reveal an authentic "madness" in the poor exercise of public management developed so far "in what was the richest municipality on the island". Calero also points out that "currently and unfortunately, Tías is only a sandcastle that is dissolving due to unbearable debts. We have approved a fictitious and falsified budget of reality".
In the opinion of the councilor of the Canarian Coalition, in the recognition of this new debt the forecasts of expenses and works will end up falling for this year. The mayor of the municipality already warned of the cut in expenses for sports at the last closing gala of the municipal sports schools. An attitude that from the Canarian Coalition qualify as "stinginess" in the social, cultural or festive sphere.
Another of the damages that, according to the nationalists, the municipality will suffer will be the non-availability of 2.5 million euros related to the public land heritage corresponding to the partial plan of the Golf Course. "A fact that will negatively affect the vital rehabilitation of Puerto del Carmen, since that is where the money will be taken from", according to the nationalist bloc.
"Again we have to ask ourselves where the large amounts of money that entered that City Council in recent years went and how such a large waste of everyone's money is possible. With this new blow to the municipal accounts, it is obvious why they did not want to resolve the cadastral issue: they need more money to continue wasting and hiding a management of incompetent people. We are facing people incapable of making good use of all the money that the residents of Tías have put in their hands", declared Pedro Calero.
