The municipal group of the PSOE in the City Council of Tinajo has once again denounced that the company Canal Gestión Lanzarote "continues to dump sewage into the sea, specifically in the coastal town of La Santa."
The socialist councilor Begoña Hernández points out that in La Santa “a series of discharges of polluting elements into the sea are taking place, coming from the surplus of the pumping machines of the treatment plant, near the town.”
“The situation is not new,” says the PSOE of Tinajo, which recalls that "sewage spills have been occurring for several years due to different pumping problems that exist at the exit of La Santa, contaminating the flora, fauna and waters."
The PSOE of Tinajo explains that this pumping is used to move the water to the treatment plant that is located on the outskirts of La Santa and, "when the pumps break down or there is a lot of water flow, the tanks are not enough."

"When the sewage tanks overflow, a pipe drains into the ravine that crosses under the road and from there it spills into the sea, causing bad odors, infections and pollution", denounce the socialists.
Begoña Hernández highlights that these discharges “are occurring repeatedly over time and are not due to a specific moment.” For this reason, the Socialist Group of Tinajo demands "a quick solution to this problem and that responsibilities be clarified so that the environmental degradation of the area is not allowed to continue."
