The judge of Operation Gondola, which investigates various corruption cases in the Mogán City Council, has ordered the arrest of businessmen Santiago Santana Cazorla, Álvaro Juan Canales Medina and the PP councilor in Mogán José Silverio Hernández Hernández.
The Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands has just confirmed through a statement that within the framework of the so-called "Operation Gondola", businessmen Santiago Santana Cazorla, Álvaro Juan Canales Medina and the Councilor for Economy and Finance, Personnel, Cleaning, Street Markets, Internal Regime, Heritage and Contracting of the Mogán City Council, José Silverio Hernández Hernández, have been arrested from eight in the morning today, Monday, February 5.
According to the statement, the detainees are charged with the following crimes: Santiago Santana Cazorla, Influence Peddling and Crime Against Land Management, Álvaro Juan Canales Medina, Embezzlement, Disclosure of Secrets, Alteration of Price for Public Auctions and Influence Peddling. José Silverio Hernández Hernández, finally, is charged with the crimes of Influence Peddling, Embezzlement and Crime Against the Electoral Law.
The TSJC affirms that the detainees are being transferred to the Superior Police Headquarters of Las Palmas where the pertinent proceedings are being instructed. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, and as the police proceedings are completed, they will be gradually made available to the Judicial Authority. The summary secrecy remains decreed.
