The president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Astrid Pérez, has pointed out that this October 12, Hispanic Day, “is the holiday of all Spaniards and as such we must feel deeply proud of what we are and of the bonds of union, respect and solidarity that we maintain with Spanish-speaking countries.”

In this sense, she has stressed that neither time nor distance have been able to end “the ties that exist between Spain and Latin America and the cultural wealth that we share.” “Brotherhood that the Canary Islanders experience in a special and intense way due to our recent past and our current condition as a welcoming land, an example of integration and multiculturalism,” she adds.

For the island president, this day of celebration of the National Holiday and Hispanic Day is also an opportunity to “reclaim ourselves as a great country and also defend the unity and equality of all Spaniards regardless of where they live”; basic principles that in the current political moment are being threatened by the State Government itself and its agreements with independence movements at the expense of the Amnesty Law or the new financing system for Catalonia, which only seek to keep Sánchez in La Moncloa at any cost.

In this sense, Astrid Pérez highlights the erosion that the Rule of Law and Welfare State is suffering due to the actions of a Government held hostage by separatist interests.
