The secretary of the Arrecife City Council, Asenet Padrón, has submitted her resignation to the City Council. Padrón registered her writing last Monday, May 24, for reasons that have not yet transpired, although her decision comes six days after the position she occupies was put out to public tender.

Asenet Padrón has been acting as accidental secretary of Arrecife for years, although she was dismissed from the position in 2012, under the Mayoralty of Cándido Reguera, in the midst of a controversy with the then government group and with the then deputy mayor, the socialist José Montelongo.

Afterwards, the courts ordered her to be reinstated and that sentence was finally executed in December 2018. It was then that Padrón returned to the Secretariat, although now she has decided to abandon it.

From the City Council they explain that at the beginning of this year they contacted the Public Function to fill the positions of Secretary and Intervention with career officials who will join as owners, since both positions have been exercised accidentally. As a result of this request, the two positions have been put out to tender, in a call that was published on May 18 in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

Meanwhile, from the Consistory they remember that there is already another person who was in charge of replacing Padrón during periods of sick leave or vacations, and that she will now exercise this position so that the administration can continue functioning.
