The Arrecife City Council has been awarded a special mention in the National Interior Commerce Awards, which are awarded annually by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce to city councils, through the General Directorate of Interior Commerce. In this way, the state body recognizes the "good work" carried out by the Arrecife City Council in the area of commerce.
The resolution, published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on Tuesday, December 20, highlights the "quality" of the proposal presented by the Arrecife City Council thanks to the work carried out by the Local Development Agency, in collaboration with the Arrecife Shopping Center. The special mention given to the City Council rewards urban commercial renovation actions in the city center.
The Councilor for Commerce, Ángela Hernández, has expressed her satisfaction with this award, "since it values the work and effort that we are making from the City Council to boost commerce in the capital." "In addition to the 'Arrecife, active city' project that we also want to transfer to the next FITUR fair and that involves the dynamization of the city, as well as the promotion of the great cultural and historical attractions through concrete actions, other municipal initiatives were presented," she pointed out.
Thus, the Arrecife Tourist and Artisan Market 2020 was announced, which every Saturday brings together thousands of people around the historic center of the municipality, the Tourist Guide or the Arrecife market and its Christmas variant. "The most important thing about these projects is the boost to our economy and the creation of new jobs. Without a doubt, they represent the definitive revulsive that Arrecife needed to become what we all want: an active city, open to tourism, modern, and cosmopolitan," said the councilor.
It should be noted that the until now general director of Interior Commerce, Teresa de Jesús Sánchez Armas, sent a letter to the mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, a few days ago, congratulating him on the award, "which is a recognition of the good work done."
