Even though it can no longer be removed because the plenary session has already been called, the party has decided that it will request its withdrawal during the session because "it will not be debated or approved."

The Popular Party has decided to withdraw from the Arrecife City Council Plenary session this coming Friday the motion that intended to recognize bullfighting as intangible cultural heritage, as La Voz has been able to confirm.

Even though it can no longer be removed because the Plenary Session has already been called, the party has decided that it will request during the session that this motion be withdrawn because "it will not be debated or approved."

Furthermore, these sources, which this media outlet has been able to access, assure that "it was a mistake to include it on the agenda because this is not the appropriate venue, but rather it was intended for other cities where bullfighting is deeply rooted."

After this motion became known, both Lanzarote en Pie and the Franz Weber Foundation have spoken out against it. LEP has stated that "this initiative is not only alien to the cultural identity of Arrecife, but seeks to stir up ideological flags that have nothing to do with the real problems of citizens."

For its part, the Franz Weber Foundation has described this PP motion as "surreal" for considering it "extemporaneous and unreal" in historical, social, and ethical terms.
