The Arrecife City Council has reported that the General Directorate of Police “has given up submitting the documentation required to legalize the Temporary Foreigner Care Center (CATE), located in the heart of Arrecife.”
"The General Directorate of Police has not submitted any of the documentation that we requested from November of last year, nor the fee for issuing the license along with the receipt, nor the guarantee to cover the costs of demolition of the infrastructure in case of non-compliance”, says the Councilor for Urban Planning, Eduardo Placeres. For the head of Urban Planning “it is clear that they are aware of the illegality they are committing and have not bothered to process the application for a building permit before the City Council.”
Therefore, they point out from the Consistory, "dated January 26, it has resolved the file for a building permit for the CATE for not having satisfactorily completed the municipal requirement to correct deficiencies”, according to the resolution, and therefore “resolves to terminate the administrative procedure and proceed to archive the actions.”
Likewise, the Arrecife City Council reports that it is moving forward “the file for the restoration of urban legality, opened due to the lack of a building permit, which can be resolved with the dismantling of the facilities”.
From the City Council they point out that this file was also opened “in November of last year”, and its resolution was conditional “on the General Directorate of Police having the building permit for the CATE”, which they point out has been installed “without a license”, and which is made up of “20 demountable structures, three containers and a perimeter metal fence located on Escotilla and Timón street”. Plot located behind the National Police Station, owned by the Port Authority and which the City Council points out “has not been transferred to the Ministry of the Interior.”
In said resolution, the restoration of the infringed urban legality is ordered, which “will consist of the application for a license to implement an installation for social equipment use.” In the event that “the license granting procedure is not completed due to causes attributable to the promoter, or it concludes unfavorably”, they indicate in the file that they will proceed to “resolve the file for the restoration of legality, ordering the dismantling of the facilities and the cessation of use.”
