The Department of Social Welfare, Equality, and Immigration of the Arrecife City Council, headed by Maite Corujo, is organizing the conference Migrations of Yesterday and Today this Thursday, December 18, an initiative that seeks to promote reflection and social awareness regarding migratory processes from a historical and contemporary perspective.
The activity will be held at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture in the Lanzarote capital from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and is part of the commemoration of International Human Rights Day, celebrated on December 10th, and International Migrant Day, on December 18th.
“Our objective is to create a space for meeting, reflection, and awareness around migration, understood as a universal human phenomenon, present in the history of the Canary Islands and in our current reality,” highlights Maite Corujo, who encourages participation in this event open to all audiences.
The program includes the screening of the documentary 'Yo también crucé' by Global Shaper Las Palmas, as well as a presentation by sociologist and professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Aniano Hernández Guerra. The event will conclude with a panel of experiences that will allow for the sharing of firsthand accounts and testimonies.
