In less than 48 hours, Alejandro Ramírez, councilor of the Popular Party in the Teguise City Council, publicly announced that he was leaving his responsibilities at the head of the Departments of Sports and Citizen Participation, accused his Government colleagues of putting "stumbling blocks" in his way and prioritizing their "ego" and returned to his responsibilities without further explanationThe crisis within the Popular Party of Teguise has shown a new chapter, with the return of the person in charge of Sports in record time. Through his social networks, Ramírez announced last Monday in a video that he was leaving his two areas and joining the mixed group, with the cry of "freedom, damn it". In the recording, he also stated: "If they don't let me work, I'll go back home and I won't leave through the back door"After the announcement, he organized a press conference on Tuesday at a hotel in Costa Teguise, where he raised his tone against his partners from Coalición Canaria, the former Vox councilor, and the Popular Party, with whom he ran in the 2023 municipal elections.
"Since 2023 I have received potholes and problems”, he highlighted, pointing out that "the priority of some political groups is not to work for the good of Teguise, but to interfere in the work of other departments", without further details.
After his statements, in the plenary session of Teguise held in La Graciosa he sat on the bench of the Popular Party, fueling rumors of an express reconciliation.
As confirmed by the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque (CC), Ramírez's departure never took place because the process of his resignation had not been resolved. Furthermore, Duque has confirmed to *La Voz* that the popular politician has had a change of heart and has withdrawn his resignation letter. For the moment, he will also remain in charge of the areas of Sports and Citizen Participation as before. For her part, the popular councilwoman Rita Hernández, has ignored the criticisms of her still colleague and the rumors of crisis in her party and has insisted that Alejandro Ramírez has not left the government group.Ramírez's vote is crucial to maintain the coalition government group made up of Coalición Canaria, the Popular Party, and the former Vox councilor in the municipality, and his departure would open the door to a motion of no confidence in the municipality.
