The Minister of Sports of the Cabildo, Francisco Javier Aparicio, has stated that activity in sports facilities will be resumed "gradually" in Lanzarote.
"We know that the world of sports is very positive for the island, for health and also for the economy, but we must be responsible and prudent about what may happen. Clubs are already starting to move not only in the Canary Islands, but between the Peninsula and the Canary Islands, and be careful, because security between them is low," he said.
For the moment, according to Aparicio, cadet category teams have already started training in the island's sports facilities. "And the Island Board meets next week and let's say that there are different possibilities to continue, perhaps, opening the hand in the world of sports," he added.
"Only the youngest remain, from children to pre-beginners, and we have also received information from the educational part that things are done with that good sense of complying and that the athlete always has security, and that is what we are trying to do," explained the counselor.
"If we do well in the health issue, we will do well not only in sports, but in everything in general," continued Francisco Javier Aparicio, who nevertheless pointed out that he has spoken with coaches and teams and that "many interpret that the competitions should start from January". "Yes to sports, but not competitions yet," he added.
Suspension of the Rally Isla de Lanzarote
On the other hand, the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo has spoken about the suspension of the Rally Isla de Lanzarote, which was scheduled to be held in November. "It was decided not to have that event on the island primarily for security and not in itself of the sports event, of the drivers or co-drivers, which there always is, but of that flow of people that will be varying on the island, from north to south, from south to north, in the different sections. Who can control that flow?" he questioned.
In this regard, Aparicio pointed out that the federation had already been "warned" "since April" of the "difficulties" that the celebration of that event would have. "It is not that we want to be against the world of motorsports, far from it. There will be rallies again on the island and we will support them as always," Francisco Javier Aparicio wanted to clarify, who also pointed out that the decision was made at the Island Board, where they "all go together".
