The popular music group Acatife celebrated its thirty-first festival on the occasion of the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Carmen, in La Villa de Teguise, where they distinguished Sebastiana Perera Brito, the first woman to receive this distinction, with their highest award, the Silver Volcano.
The municipal tent of Teguise was the stage chosen by Acatife to celebrate its festival on Friday night, where once again they were very supported by the public, completing the allowed capacity and cheering with their applause.
In this edition, the festival began with the performance of the Musical Group La Trova del Llano, who came from Albacete with a total of 30 members, belonging to the Tuna of the Faculty of Law. At the end of their university studies, its members decided to continue with the music and in 2001 they presented themselves to the public as La Trova del Llano, in a gala in favor of the Red Cross.
Currently, they have counted more than 150 performances throughout the Castilian-Manchego and national territory, performing with artists such as Juan Valderrama, Serafín Zubiri or Tennessee, among others, highlighting two of their shows called Rutamerica and Mil Amores.
La Trova del Llano belongs to the Federation of Musical Vocal Groups of Spain, made up of more than 40 from all over the country. Throughout their career, they have recorded a total of three record works in CD format. La Trova del Llano during its performance offered a wide and varied musical repertoire of songs such as Sueños, Noches de Bohemia, Fruta Fresca, Orgullosa, Sabor a Mí, El Talismán, etc. Throughout their performance they were very supported by the public, applauding each of their songs.
Next, the organizers and hosts took the stage, ready to give their all in this new event, where they celebrate 42 years since their founding, back in 1983. This group was created with the aim of deepening the knowledge and dissemination of the island's folklore and contributing to its development with its own contributions.
Acatife, throughout these years, has left its mark throughout the Canary Islands, in some regions of the peninsula and also in countries such as Germany and France. Currently, it is among the musical groups with the greatest contribution to Canarian popular music, with its compositions being unpublished, choosing for the festival some that sounded for the first time such as; El Sorondongo al Labrador, Isa Enterregada, Seguidillas a la Enseñanza, Identidad or Bogando por la Marina, composition by Alfredo Cabrera, with Juanma Padrón giving voice to it.
Acatife, directed in the musical part by Alejandro Machín and in the voice section by José Antonio Elías, once again achieved its objective with flying colors, counting on the complicity of the public that supported them throughout the development of the festival.
The night reached its most emotional moment when the musical instruments stopped playing, giving way to the projection of a video that collected some biographical data of the life of Sebastiana Perera Brito, distinguished this year with the highest award granted by Acatife to people and groups involved in projecting the culture and traditions of the Canary Islands.
