The airline Ryanair has reported that a flight departing from Madrid to Gran Canaria this Friday has suffered "a cabin depressurization shortly after takeoff" from the Barajas airport. According to the airline, the pilots "have carried out the usual procedures in case of depressurization, have deployed the oxygen masks and have started a descent of the plane to the corresponding altitude".

Flight FR 2011 returned to Madrid airport "immediately", according to the same sources, and landed "normally" at 8.25 local time. Passengers disembarked "safely", according to Ryanair.

The airline's engineers are inspecting and carrying out the corresponding repairs on the aircraft. In addition, Ryanair has assigned a replacement aircraft so that affected passengers can fly to Gran Canaria.

The new flight was scheduled to take off at 10.30 am (Madrid local time). Ryanair has issued a statement apologizing to the 160 passengers affected by this incident.
