The Island Council of Lanzarote, through the Department of Public Works, has proceeded to close the section of the LZ-703 road of Los Hervideros to guarantee the safety of drivers in the face of the displacement of land that has caused a sinkhole.

With this measure, the department headed by Jacobo Medina seeks to guarantee the safety of drivers, so they are already assessing different solutions to open the road to traffic as soon as possible.

A team made up of technicians from the Public Works area and operators from the Roads service has traveled to the area, together with the councillor himself, to study in detail the consequences of the collapse

"We are going to act as an emergency to speed up the repair as soon as possible and prevent the new road from also suffering serious and new damage. As a result of the waves that daily hit the slopes of the road and have been eroding the land", explains Medina.

The intention of the Cabildo is to act, through the emergency route, to intervene on the road and thus guarantee the safety of drivers, before a major accident occurs at the exact point of the collapse.”
