The Cabildo of Lanzarote has awarded the renovation of the old 'Casa del Médico' in La Graciosa, which will become "provisionally" a Day Center for the Elderly. The project will be carried out by the company Construcciones J.M. La Graciosa S.L and will have a budget of 20,000 euros and an execution period of 30 days.
The Minister of Social Welfare, Lucía Olga Tejera, has traveled to the Eighth Island to supervise in situ the beginning of the work and has indicated that "the Cabildo has already invested 18,000 thousand euros to provide furniture to the Casa del Médico, which will provisionally house the Center".
In addition, she explained that currently "five elderly people receive assistance in the Fishermen's Association of La Graciosa, which has been enabled for the provision of that service".
Now, according to the Minister, this new action "is part of the commitments acquired by the Welfare Area". "We work to ensure that dependent people in Lanzarote and La Graciosa receive a dignified service tailored to their needs," she concluded.
