The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has declared a wave alert due to the worsening of the sea on the island. The State Meteorological Agency has predicted adverse coastal phenomena between 9:00 p.m. this Tuesday and until the morning of this Wednesday.

This forecast points to a northeast wind of force seven, between 50 and 61 kilometers per hour, which will cause rough seas with very rough areas, especially on the north and west coast of Lanzarote. There will be north and northeast swell with waves of two to four meters that, occasionally, may result in combined sea waves with waves of four to six meters in height.

Faced with this situation, the Government of the Canary Islands has insisted on recommending that the population take extreme precautions on the coasts of the islands, and especially in Lanzarote, and highlights the importance of putting self-protection advice into practice to avoid risky situations.

In this sense, the Executive has recalled that while this situation persists, you must avoid walking along the coast as well as being in areas where the strong waves can drag you out to sea, even if the sea suddenly calms down. It is also recommended not to drive vehicles on roads near the beach line, postpone nautical or sports activities and not to swim on secluded or unguarded beaches.
