With great solemnity and devotion, the residents of La Villa de Teguise celebrated last Saturday the feast of Corpus Christi, one of the most significant of the Catholic liturgical calendar. The ceremony began at 6:00 p.m. in the main church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, presided over by the parish priest, Juan Manuel Molina.
During the Solemn Eucharist, the readings of the celebration were carried out, accompanied by liturgical songs that had the active participation of the parishioners.
At the end of the mass, the traditional Corpus Christi procession took place, in which the parish priest toured the heart of the Historic Site of La Villa carrying the Holy Custody with the Sacred Form under a canopy. The route included the Plaza de San Miguel, which, as is customary in Lanzarote, was covered with colorful and elaborate salt carpets made by the cultural groups of the municipality.
The festival once again brought together faith, art and tradition, reaffirming the community's commitment to one of the most deeply rooted religious expressions on the island.
