The seaside neighborhood of Valterra prepared from the early hours of the morning of Tuesday, July 16, with great enthusiasm for the great celebration of the Eucharist. At 7:00 p.m., the Holy Mass in honor of its patron saint, Our Lady of Carmen, began on the stage set up in the neighborhood park, presided over by Manuel Arencibia, parish priest of Titerroy and La Vega, assisted by Miguel Hernández, priest of San Ginés, Nicanor Bermúdez of Altavista and Valterra, and Eduardo, priest of Brugos.
The songs were performed by the Iris del Mar de Valterra Choir and the homily was read by the celebrating priest. The park facilities were full of neighbors and parishioners from different parts of the city, devotees of the Virgin.
Once the Holy Mass was over, the procession began, led by the Musical Union band, directed by Professor Pepe Artiles, followed by the throne carrying the image of the Virgin, and closely followed by the celebrating priests and the parishioners. Everyone was singing the songs typical of such a special celebration along the processional route through several streets of the seaside neighborhood and its surroundings.
Back at the church, the members of the murga Los Simplones were waiting for them, who, as usual, dedicated a song to the Virgin. With very emotional notes which become prayer. After the song and when the image of the Virgin entered the church, the cheers and applause were heard again, concluding a day marked by devotion to the Patron Saint of the capital neighborhood.
