Manuel Martínez Abolafio passed away this Friday, December 4th at the age of 78 in Lanzarote.
The well-known businessman spent his entire career between Equatorial Guinea and Lanzarote and was the driving force behind the century-old Martínez Hermanos group, one of the main island companies. He started in the field of crops and ended up diversifying his activity to countless economic sectors with success.
Martínez Abolafio earned the respect and affection of the people with his particular outgoing character, affectionate and respectful with everyone. In the business world, he combined his entrepreneurial character with his seal of seriousness.
The Martínez Hermanos company is an example of constant evolution, which combined its impulse between Africa, where it was born in Equatorial Guinea 90 years ago, and Lanzarote, where it raised his family, although it is currently present throughout the archipelago and also in the peninsula.
Martínez Abolafio leaves behind his wife, Catalina Mpanga, and children José Antonio, Fernando Javier, Catalina and Manuel Martínez.
A few months ago the family also mourned the loss of Fernando Martínez Abolafio, Manuel's brother and also co-promoter of Martínez Hermanos, who was another key figure in the development of the economy of Equatorial Guinea.
